Here’s a picture of my front door -

..now look even more closely… you can see that those eggs are only the size of the tip of my finger! I’ll try to keep you posted!

In the meantime, I have been working on my Amigurumi project – the Japanese term for knitted or crocheted stuffed toys or animals. I have decided to make 20, in memory of the 20 children killed in Newtown. I will give 10 to a detective I know who was a first responder on the scene, and 10 to a friend who works on an ambulance as an EMT. They will each be able to give these little toys to children they are caring for who are in emergency situations and need a little extra softness and cuddling.

I have crocheted 13 of the 20 thus far, although most still need their eyes…when I done I will embroider a little red heart onto each…

They are mostly green and white, the Sandy Hook school colors…just my personal little tribute..

Bolero and Annabelle

I do hope everyone enjoyed Mother’s Day in some fashion! We celebrated with my mom the week before, and I think she really liked her gifts.

I have been hard at work since then…the Bolero bracelet is done, I have started a second, and have an order for one as well! What do you think of the finished product?

I have an order for one in this same blue, but with pink along the edge,,,

I have also finally finished a necklace that I have been working in for quite some time – the Annabelle necklace -

I am quite pleased with it! It used twin beads, along with 11/0, 15/0, pearls, crystals, lots of fun goodies!

Another project I completed was a simple bracelet for my son’s girlfriend’s mother – wanted to be sure she had something to give her for Mother’s Day – this was designed with her favorite colors, and just a little bit of “pop” -

Scarves and Bracelets

I have been busy during the last week trying to finish up a few projects…a couple of scarves and bracelets…they are lightweight scarves, so unless the weather is really hot, I can still put them on! One is another “Orphan Scarf” – it’s a Doris Chan pattern, that uses an “orphan” ball of sock yarn, the other is a ruffly scarf with a beautiful lightweight organza ribbon that I got at Chain Link (the Knit and Crochet Show) last summer.

The third scarf is the one I made for my mom for Mother’s Day – isn’t it fun?

Then the bracelets…an updated picture of the Bolero Bracelet (I ran out of the blue beads, and can’t finish til I get more!), and a couple of shots of a new dagger bracelet…this one will be for sale shortly.

We will be out of town all weekend – in MA for a scuba dive gear demo for my DH on Saturday, and in NYC celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday – I hope to get in a lot of crocheting while I sit in the car.

Whatever you are doing this weekend I hope it will be fun!

Mother’s Day Pin

Of course Mother’s Day isn’t until May 12th, but we are going to celebrate a week early with my mother this year so we can go to a restaurant without it being to crowded…that being said, I’ve been working on gifts…

I did find a great scarf and scarf pin for my mother months ago, but of course, I had to crochet something too; a fun scarf with novelty yarn. Then, I decided I wanted to make her a shawl pin. I used 4 different colors of wire, all twisted together, shaped , twisted, work-hardened – I’m pretty pleased with the results! What do you think? It’s not really as blue as it looks in the picture, but kind of fun, nonetheless! Happy Mothers’ Day – a little early!

Bolero Bracelet and the Shaggy Dog

Well, I promised pictures, so here they are! First the Bolero Bracelet…

I am ready to start the 4th silver square…it covers the top of my wrist, so it is close to half done…then it will have a silver edging – what a fun bracelet!

And…the Shaggy Dog -

What do you think? I am just crazy about this bracelet! It was so much fun to make, and it is so easy and comfortable to wear! More coming soon!

New Website!

The New Website is done! OK, I still have to put some finishing touches on it, and I will be adding some more pictures and details of my work – but finally, finally, here it is!

What fun!!!!

What beader doesn’t love a bead show? This one is so close to home for me that it is truly a pleasure!!

I had a great time visiting with vendors I have seen at many other shows, and making some new friends as well!

I also took a marvelous peyote bracelet class with Pat Riesner (pics later), and learned about “shaggy dogs”…more about that soon!
